Am I going to fry my electronic ignition ?

Hi all,
I'd like to buy a Pertronix Flamethrower ignition coil, 40.000 Volts spark.
My Celica TA23 now has a stock coil with separate ballast resistor, in combination they have a resistance of 3 Ohm.
My Pertronix EI needs a minimum of 3 Ohm. resistance.
Pertronix sells different types of coils, some have 1.5, others 3.0 Ohm. resistance.
I know I can use the 3.0 Ohm. resistance coil and get rid of my ballast resistor.
But is it possible to KEEP the ballast resistor and use the 1.5 Ohm. coil ????
I think in that last case, I would have some more punch starting up, as the ballast resistor is bypassed while cranking.
In case of the 3.0 Ohm. coil, this resistance cannot be bypassed because the resistance is built into the coil !
So I guess buying a lower resistance coil in combo with the ballast resistor is better ???
Is my reasoning OK, please ? Or will I fry my Pertronix EI ?
Technical people, please help me out here
Steven

The ignitor you have and the coil you want to buy both come from the same company right?
You should ask them...

E-mail general enquiries or sales or whatever e-mail addy you do have. I'm sure they'd answer your question.
