Do i need a new clutch or what? (3sgte ST162)

I got a front mount put on a few weeks ago and now i think my clutch is slipping from the extra power. If i plant it in second it seems to go through the revs fairly quickly but the car doesn't get much faster until i back off a little. It seems to accelerate faster if i don't put pedal to the metal.
So i'm assuming my clutch is worn out and i need a new/more heavy duty one.
I've got maybe 140fwkw so should i just replace the stock st185 clutch or get something a bit more heavy duty. If so where from, how much $ etc.?
Cheers!

i had this experience once, found out there was nothing wrong with the clutch, after i pulled it out ofcourse . even after i put the new one in it kept on slipping during spirited driving.
then i found out that there is an adjustment at the clutch peddle, its a bastard to get to, but it solved the problem. I would try that 1st before taking off the gearbox, but it defineately is a clutch problem, and most likely you will need a new one.

hey cycleofabuse> you have a s53/3sfe camry g/box in your car dont you?
because if you do (like me)you need a custom clutch made up. your clutch disc needs to have the spline of the s53 g/box (23 teeth i think?), and the disc size of a gt4. (3sgte flywheel)
you can use a standard camry disc.(but its smaller, and doesnt cover the flywheel properly.so get the right one made
note:( i wouldnt be surprised if the guy who swapped your car just used the stock camry disc, it still works, and its loads cheaper)

hey
I used the st162 3sfe gearbox when i did the conversion.
I used the normal clutch plate and the gt4 pressure plate. it works fine if u dont ride the clutch when taking off on hills.

I've just noticed that there's a fair bit of free play in the clutch pedal, can i fix this just by adjusting it? You reckon this will help my problem?
Cheers

This is just a guess, but i think that you're free play is a slave cylinder leak, and you're slave leak is causing/has caused you're clutch to wear (& slip) because its not disengaging properly.
I think its always better to check all the hydraulics before anything else.
The pedal adjustment would be last on my list to play with coz you might make something worse by treating the symptom not the problem.

So if there were a leak i should notice a drop in the fluid level right? Cause it's still full.

Not necessarily coz sometime the seals around the boot in the slave cylinder (or the master) can go and the fliud sqeezes past it without an external leak. But you still get some clutch disengaement.
Also, usually if that is happening you will get a different amount of play from time to time depending how hard or fast you push the pedal in, and how much load is on the clutch.
Get someone to watch the how much throw the arm at the slave actually gets when you push the clutch right in slowly. Then do it fast. See if you can pick up anything. If not then it is probably ok.
I am just always suspicious if your pedal feel changes and you havent adjusted / been adjusting it yourself.
