Sorry. It is just us. I'm Jonny and my KE55 corolla is now on the road with the 2TG motor. I will put the 6.7" celica diff in this weekend. I will go to Baskerville this weekend for a look, sunday 19th.
On the HJP yahoo list, there is a guy called Greg, he has a couple of TA22/RA23 cars. One with 2TG other with 18RG. You still on that list? Also there is a guy on these lists with a stock RA40, in hobart.
I want to start a RWD Celica/corolla club/list for people in the Hobart region.

I have made a website for my club, its not much but im working on it, www.hffr.esmartweb.com Have a look and tell me what you think?

Yes I went to Baskerville. A picture of my car and engine is on the HJP website. I have met a few people from that list now. Is your car running at the moment? I saw your website, you need members pictures. So these guys are in hobart right? Feel free to use pictures of my car if they qualify.

Yes the members that are listed in my site are friends of mine that will be in the club. I will put the photos of the cars in when i have them all. I will check out your photo in hjp when i can get into it (it dosent let me go in lately). If you want to join my club i will put the photo in or unless you want to give me a really nice one of your car to put in my site.

So fellas how is the local car scene? it was non existent when I left tassie in 97. Are Toranas and Geminis still the car of choice for locals? I think that my car will get a few stares when I drive down in December.

I'm also from Tassie. I live at a little place on the northwest coast called penguin, however i stay at hobart nearly all of the time due to Uni. I drive a stock RA40 that has recently been sprayed Dark Green with dish style chrome mags. I have plans for my car although plans require money
The car scene is still pretty non-existant tanman. I went out the other night and saw a drag at the lights in town. there was 3 VL commodores a VK and a VN. bloody holdens

I am doing practice laps at Baskerville tomorrow, 2nd June 2002. Anyone is welcome to watch, no cost. People from the HJP list will be there doing laps. This is my first time on a track.
The hobart night car scean is whatever you see on the block friday and saturday nights, and at Hungry Jacks north Hobart. Most people are on their P's, and most drive commodores. Although you see a bit of everything about.
There are lots of 300ZX's about now though, and the odd Japanese skyline. Only like 1 or 2 "Sprinters", which are ususaly done up to suit local car fashions sadly.
WRX's and the like do not usualy do "the block", but there are some good cars around, not always seen though.

Alloy gear knobs? Well I have a lathe and can make custom gear knobs if anyone likes. A gear knob will cost you about what you would otherwise pay in a shop, only you can design it and I will make it to what you want. With proper threads, not plasitc spacer things inside.

I didnt really mean it, i was bored so i wrote it just to see what kind of response it would get. The car scene is small down here obviously coz theres less population than NSW/VIC, so the scene on a friday night in the city (hobart) wouldnt be half as good as sydney and melbourne, but we always see a number of good quality cars and the rest are commodores and shit boxes. I would love to do some cruzin around sydney on a friday night as there would be sick cars everywhere.

Being from Launceston, I didn't really head down south all that often. I do remember taking the Celica down there one weekend with my wife (girl-friend back in those days) and we ended up driving the wrong way up a one way street. Crazy mistake but pretty funny when I think about it now. Some of those old Commodores are pretty shitfull I must say, but my brother (just moved to Devonport) just bought a 1999 Gen III Clubsport. He changed the AFM, added some Callaway headers and took the rear muffler off. Its a great car, espically with the 6 spotter calipers and Harrop rotors, which were on the car when he bought it off some dentists. The car rocks and goes hard! We are both big 4 cyclinder fans but you know how the old saying goes...........if you can beat them, join them!
Justin
Last I heard he was thinking about a set of 19 inch rims. Apparently there is only one tyre shop in Launcston that has the gear to fit tyres onto rims bigger than 18" I've seen a few Commodores around Sydney with 19" rims and my only advise would be spend the extra few grand and go the big kick arse 20" rims and tyres. Now that would be something special for Tassy wouldn't you think?

yep, the scene is total poo in tassie, the "blocky route" for the doof brigade consists of 1 square block in the city, 1 block up argyle, left then one block up liverpool, left then one block up murray street, left into collins and back into argyle street....maybe the adventurous extend the route down liverpool to barrack? street and come back down collins past the cinema....There is a kinda cool black ae86 ('cept for the pure 70s deep dish 5 slotter alloys), but its commodores and geminis heaven.....I hazard not one car would run quicker than 17s....(not that my skyline is much if any better)yet they all drag each other in the 50kmh shopping district, right past watching cop cars. dickheads! hey jonny, saw your new(sort of) rolla in town a couple of nights back, i was next to you in murray street and then a couple of lanes over down davey street in a silver skyline.looks cool, like the black rims, looks tuff as, street racer stylee, no riceness at all! good stuff! sounds meaty as well. cheers, floody (no toyota just now, but ke 25-30 rally wagon/van even in the future)

OK thanks. you should joint the hobart-toyota list I have going. Have you seen the KE26 rally wagon getting about, with the 3T-C motor with sidedrafts and full rollcage etc? That is a pov car, but I bet fairly effective in the forrest. I'm not a block type of guy at all, but now having my car together I got to check out what else is about. I'm not sure about 17sec down the 400 meters, but I can do under 1min 17sec at Baskerville!
I have had a good look at that black AE86. I saw it lap baskerville as well,(with a different driver). It has a 3T-GTE in it, fairly standard engine. It has a bigger diff, brakes and everything, but the owner bought it like that and is fairly clueless.

Ahh ok, that sprinter is probably faster than I think, didn't sound turboed to me though, more like a 4a-c with a loud exhaust, bt yeah, it did keep up with my car (mid you I sat next to it going full attack without going over 4000 in 2nd). Yep, I saw that '26 wagon in town, and that inspired me, I figured that a wagon body would be cheaper, weight distribution would be helped by lower fuel tank placement(though overall the car might be heavier), and it would be simpler to access it to fit a rollcage into than messing round in a sedan. Also heard somewhere that wagons have a stronger diff setup than sedans, could be wrong though.I'm going to try and get either the ke26 type or the ke30 style, dunno which yet, depends what comes up. found one I want in sandy bay, just gotta wait for the rego to run out now.... cheers, floody

now now fellas no underestimating the black sprinter now
i own the sprinter and no im not clueless! i built most of the car and installed the w-50 supra box and lsd rear end!!!!!!not to mention intalled rear and front swaybars!!!
get facts right before trapping off!!!
yes the toyota scenen is shit down here and yes it is fully of poverty holdens and fords!
by the way the reason why AE86 may be a bit slow is because a crack maniflod was reducing the motor to 45% power and now this is fixed im guessing WRX;s and skylines may be dragging jaws from now on! my trip to baskerville got me worried about where my massive power loss was but i soon found it and the cause was due to lack of cooling time on the turbo!!!!!
the sprinter just got adjustble boost and runs on 14psi now rather than the evryday 5psi that it has been run on for most of its life! street wise it runs on 7 psi!
well im happy to see a few ppl here with toyotas and a cruise day coulds be on the cards so if ur intrested post a message and ill organise sumthing!!

Now now, no-one said you were clueless, hell I was looking for an ae86 before I bought my skyline, still want one if there's any rolling shells out there with interiors(dash and door trims).....Like I sad, the night I saw the car it didnt look quick, you were probably still only runnning piss-all boost and the cracked mainfold. You wanna watch it hasn't already leaned out and started the chain of damage- even on low boost with an intake manifold airleak this is a very common phenomenon. but I gotta say beating wrx's is a big call....and as for the skylines, well i just gotta say wait for the next stage, RB30ET....goodbye! good luck with that! cool car though, like I said before in the original post, better than the shitty, noisy, gutless rotors in town.....No-one's dissing the car though, just observing.I like it personally, but get some charcoal powdercoat minilites and piss off the "beegees era" mags man! cheers, floody

When i was in tassie during Targa i saw the funniest thing in all my life, waiting to cross the road in Hobart and had to wait for this fat Commadore to go past and he had his stereo full pumping and all done up with his monster tacho and shift light on the A pillar then as i look in while he goes past it was an AUTOMATIC still laugh when i think about it, bloody shift light and monster tacko in an auto.
Except from memory i saw heaps of stock standard 22's down there looking worse for wear didn't see any 23's so i'll have to do a lot of cruiseing while i'm down there in november-december to make up for the lack of 23's on the road

i'm not convinced as all this time i have only ever known of the 90,91,92,94 GT-4's and 94 was the last year toyota used them in the WRC and when i go onto www.drive.com.au and use the "value your car" section and search through all the GT-4's it will only come up with the 90,91,92,94 model GT-4's so i have no idea whats going on if you claim you have a 95 model

Hey guys, I'm from Tassie.. Nice to see a few people who own Toyotas a mate and I both have Corollas. We want to engine mod though and was wondering if anyone has any tips on where to go in Tassie as we don't really know a lot ourselves (youngin's) but I'm keen to learn and have saved up the cash.
I'll probably let it wait though, my friend will most likely get the conversion done before.
BTW, has anyone seen the 4agze light blue corolla with black intercooler in hobart before?

haha, i went out and did blockies when i first moved to launceston but i got over it after the first couple of times gets a little boaring after a while, especially trying to get through all the commodores. I noticed a few celicas out when i have gone, there is a dark blue ta22 with flares and a bad spray job, sounds like a 2t. there is a red ta22 with a 3tc. a white lightning st162, a silver st162 with big shiny wheels and that is all i can think of i have probably mentioned it above but i have an ae92 (ae93) sx corolla hatch with the stock 100kw 4age.
As far as i know there are only a few locals on toymods, there is a group being run by Jonny2TG from these forums called Hobart-Toyota. it is a yahoo group, obviously based in hobart although there are 3 or 4 of us from launceston.

I couldn't really tell you everything i've done to the car cuz alot of it was done when i got it it had a turbo in it but i had to take it out for insurance reasons but it's had the head ported and polished and those sort of things and the bottom end done but not that many bolt on parts for the same reason as the turbo . I've beaten mainly commodore V8s the newer 1's and the old shitters it's quick really quick i once got from launceston to kingston where i live in under 2 hours i had to slow down thru town but on the highway i "slowed down" to no less than 160 for the tight bits i had it wound off the clock for most of the time it's a great car and takes a massive beating i'm still up for like 40 of us to hire out a race track or something .

If you are interested in hiring a track you should join HJP (Hobart japanese performance) they regularly hire out baskerville, I think you do need to have bonnet pins, fire extinguisher and a helmet though.
Does your car still have the standard 2sc? I've never heard of a 2sc with a turbo before! I would have thought that it would be cheeper and better just to get a 3sgte and put in there. And as for beating a new V8 commodore, i would have to see that to beleive it, you do realise that they are well over 200kw stock and your engine in something like 50kw stock. Even with a turbo i find it hard to beleive.
Is your car an aqua kind of colour with red racing harnesses by any chance?

I got more traction off the start line and he was left in a cloud of smoke cuz the commodore did have more power without doubt but i had more grip and less power so i won, I'd assume it has the factory engine cuz i've bought a new distributor for it and it fits . There was a turbo on there i saw it and it's sitting in my bedroom right now. And no my car is dark blue and doesn't have any racing harness it's got the old shitty hot wire wheels on it at the moment the burn out tyres cuz fuck smoking up $300 tyres . I'm from hobart area kingston to be exact, it's got the UV lights on it and the 1200w sub I don't drive it much tho i've got it hidden in a friends garage . You might have seen my gold car the same model but standard .
