On the machine the spool at the top which feeds the cotton for the primary stitch.
The mini-spool is located under the 'foot' and feeds cotton for the locking stitch.
Thats the diff between the two.
Hope this helps.

my understanding was it was like a very tight lsd
ie not quite a locker but allowed a small amount of slip before fully locking up

how about google....
surely in this day and age, someone like you, can use something like google (it's called a search engine), to find the answer with less keystrokes than it took you to post this as a waste of space thread....

A mini-spool is a locker. No slip, no limiting, no differential action.
Both wheel are locked together and get equal drive.

What he said. A mini spool is basically a solid lump of steel which connects the axles together, and replaces the spider gears in the diff centre. Same effect as welding up the diff, but much less bodgy.

The point is that ppl will remember your name and not be as willing to answer your simple questions in the future.
Its a sign of slackness/selfishness that you cant be bothered spending 30secs more searching for yourself elsewhere first.
Its called forum etiquette and this place has a decent amount of it (a good thing btw).
