Hi all,
I'm in the process of stripping down one of my RA23;s celica down for a new coat of paint.

I've removed all the chrome from around the windows etc. except I can't figure out how to take the chrome strips off the edge of the roof without damaging them.

If anyone knows how I can remove these so that they can be used again that would be really helpful.

Thanks
Sheena

It's quite easy to strip the chromes unlike explaining it.

Start strip the cleat from the rear side of the car by pressing top of the cleat towards to cleat on other side, it should snap that you can put proper kinda chisel under the cleat and by cranking it gently inch by inch it should loose.

In other words i know how to do it but i dont know how to explain it 'cos of my bad english. Embarassed

I can't remember exactly how I did mine, but I'm pretty sure I bent them back a bit to loosen them up, then slid them off. You need to be really careful though, as it usually has a sharp edge somewhere along it that will really cut your fingers up.

i just painted my RA23. Do you mean the gutters?
if so just pull the rubber seal out of the channel under it there is flat phillips head screws take these off and the channel should pretty much fall off in your hand the gutters are generally sealed from experience with a double sided tape just gently pry it off. Just remember to put everything in bags and label it otherwise you'll have a hell of a time trying to figure out what went where.

What colour you gonna paint it anyway Sheena?

Cool, thanks guys. I'll see how I go. There is one that is damaged so I'll practice on that one..

Ah, I'm going to paint it blue. I've got blue and black race seats and all other blue stuff for the interior. My friend is a panel beater so he's going to paint it for me. He's hopefully getting me the colour cards this weekend. It won't be dark like a midnight blue but it won't be light either. Darker than the blue in my pic <<<<<<<<<.
