Fuel Tank Issues - Whats in there???

Hey guys,
I went for a savage off road adventure into the Watagans yesterday,
and now I'm having problems with the trucks fuel tank.
I noticed when I shake the truck from side to side and let it go,
once it stops bouncing, I can hear the fuel sloshing around in the tank, and on top of it what sounds like a piece of hard stuff, floating around in the fuel tank, and it hits the side of the tank as the fuel sloshes against the side.
No doubt this is bad,
But I drove 1 hour to Morisset, started 4WDing at 10AM, finished at 11:30PM, then drove another 1 hour home. So that is like 12 hours of hardcore 4 wheeling, through mud and up rocks and 1 near roll (arond 30 deg angle and idling)
and 2 hours of highway crusing.
I did notice it spluttered 3 times on the way home at 110Kms but never stopped.
It was only once I got home checking the panel damage when
I realised this fuel thingy and that the battery tray had snapped off and the battery was resting on the radiator hose for the entire trip.
Kept going though...went HARD too...typical toyota 4x4s!!
I know you guys arn't into 4 wheeling, but has anyone had a bonus prize floating around in the back of the fuel tank after a hard days drive?? rallying/drifing or motokahnas, etc??
What could it be that is floating around in the tank?
A fuel pickup maybe?
Any info would be good.
Cheers,
Bart

Maybe the filter thing near the fuel pump pickup has come off?
My old pump had an orange one.

Just another idea, maybe the float off the fuel level sender has come a-drift (if it uses a float type sender?). That would bob around in the tank and clunk.

Yeah, you might be right,
cause I do have a few problems occaisonally when the tank
gets down to about 1/4 full.
It will stay on 1/4 for AGES. then I will be driving along,
and all of a sudden the car runs out of petrol. I carry a
jerry can for this reason, I put in about 2L of petto and she
starts up and then I drive to the nearest servo.
This is a pic of my car driving some ruts up in the Watagans,
gives you some idea of how hard this truck gets treated.
It ain't my daily driver so she gets worked now!
Cheers,
Bart

Cheers Draven,
Its been alot of effort to get her where she is now.
Have done alot of it myself, especially the fully sic
roll-bar on the back.
How good will this truck be with 35" tyres and a 7M-GE!!!
after that its time for dual transfer cases.
