My buddy just found a 1980 Corona 4-door with a 20R and a crapped out auto tranny. The price is right for the car, but he wants to know how feasible it would be to change it to a 5-spd instead of having the auto repaired. Any ideas on it, if it can be done cheaply?

A 5-speed box (W50) from a 1980 Celica (RA40) should be a direct fit. The tailshaft might require modification though.
