2T Block with 2TG head?? Wed, 05 June 2002 09:27 Go to next message
I've recently come into contact pretty much a 2tg engine minus the block, as well as an imaculate rear bumper brand new that has never been fitted to a celica. The Yamaha head is still wrapped in plastic, but enough boasting from me.
Underneigh my house I have a 2T block that I was hopefully going to use with the 2TG parts, but I'm told that a few minor changes need to be made to the lube system. These changes to be done is the part that I'm not sure.
Can anyone help me in giving a little bit of advise??
I hope to turn it into a tough NA 2TG to give those 4AGE boys a go.
any help would be great.

The 2TG and 2T blocks are the same , all you need to do is to block off the cam bearing oil holes in the cam tunnel behind the short idle shaft , they usualy have plugs like welsh plugs to press in the cam tunnel to seal the holes but if get the cam bearings knocked out and knocked back in with the oil holes misalined this will seal these oil holes .
( you must also use 2TG pistons )

Benny,

Mate sounds like a really good find.

If its just the head assembly keep in mind you will need the timing chain covers etc from a 2TG. You will also need the Half cam as opposed to the full cam found in the 2T.

Trevor has your oil question covered Smile

Hope that helps,

thanks for the help.
I've got all the rest of the 2TG gear. it's just the bock that is missing. I was aware that I need 2TG pistons,,, but I'm thinking going over sized forgies for it.
and getting some lumpy cams and double valve springs, the whole deal.
Hmmmm but before all of this can take place I need to sell my BMW
Anyone want one for $8000 it's very shimcko.
