Hi all,

I have a 98 v6 camry and in need of a major service - need to change the belt and spark plugs.

Who whould you recommended to go to in Sydney area (not too far from the cbd - no more then 40 min drive one way)

i don't want to end up with a braking down car after this so i ask the only ppl i know can help! Smile

Thanks

Xish.

You must have done some serious kilometres if you need a new set of plugs. Plus they use NGK platinums as standard, (well, mine came factory standard), so don't expect a cheap plug replacement.

Service at toyota.

I've gone around to some of these "we'll service it and keep it's warranty" places, and they ended up more expensive than just to take it to toyota where they use genuine parts.

Even with discount coupons for these other places, Toyota was still cheaper.

But I service my own car now. Wink

if all you need replaced is the belt and the plugs, I can recommend a mechanic I go to. He's on victoria road ... right next to the hunter holden in (ryde?).

he's pretty cheap, and I've never had any problems, nor has anyone else I know who goes to him.

dont ever, ever, ever go to ryde toyota. they screwed me around, told me there was nothing wrong, then charged me $100 for an oil change.

man if your worried about genuine parts get them yourself from toyota but dont get them to service your car it aint worth what you pay just cause you think your getting "toyota quality service" and trust me you aint your probably getting some first year apprentice who's ripping burnouts in your car anyway trust me i work for toyota. just get the genuine parts and take it to a private mechanic i would recommend my dad but hes in campbelltown.

Yep, that's what I do now. I get the parts from them and service it myself.

But I did find my local toyota workshop better on the $$$ than the other places. EDIT: I was a VIP listed customer though. I still don't know how I got that status though. Razz

But yea, I also did notice that more than once I had lots of fuel missing and more km's on the clock then there should have been. (And the stereo knobs messed with. You DO NOT mess with my stereo).

I just personally don't trust ANY mechanic now. Sure there are still things I'd need a full mechanic to do, but, I still don't trust them.
