18RG ignition timing
Tue, 20 September 2005 14:27
can someone help me out here
I need a pic to show where the leads got
I know the timing is 1-3-4-2 but where does the number 1 lead go on the distibutor cap?
is it number 1 at the top left of the distributor cap and then going clockwise from there is it 3-4-2?
if this makes sense to anyone can you help me out thanks
Jay

x-zack-eray!
1342 using 1 on the cap and running clockwise.
if in doubt pull the cap of and see which way the rotor button spins...should be clock wise.
damn i remember doing the 2t and hooking em up 1234... couldnt for the life of me work out why it was backfiring out the carb.
me fater inlaw had fun with that! lol

take the spark plug out of the number 1 cylinder(front most).
Crank the engine till the piston becomes TDC. Check with a peice of wire or a torch if u wish.
Then pull off the dizzy cap and see where the rotor is in relation to where the cap should be.

The easy way to check the piston is at TDC is too look at the timing marks
As said above, firing order is spoton, and 1 is top left. Dizzy sense of rotation is c/w.
