getting rid of 1/2 cut shell Fri, 03 January 2003 00:11 Go to next message
Does anyone know the best way to get rid of the remains of a half cut. A mate told me that some scrap metal company will pick it up? Does anyone know the name of them, and what are the costs?
Im in Sydney.
Cheers.

Chuck it on a trailer and take it to any scrap metal place. I did this and it didn't cost me a cent; in fact, they actually paid me about $3 for the metal!

Will they take it with any plastic, or glass still on it?
It looked like yours was totally stripped of anything?

Mine was fairly stripped, but there was still some plastic and glass left. They didn't seem to care though.

Thanks for your help Norbie.

By the way your car looks awsome. I eagerly await updates on your site.
Quick question though, did you have the wiring diagrams for both cars or did you just trace all wires?
I am going to have to wire in my JZX90 1jz into my MX83 without a diagram for the chaser, so you can imagine my pain!!!

I had a wiring diagram for a JZA80 Supra, which was similar in some ways to my front cut but definitely not the same. I had to trace most of the loom to figure out what was what.

Down in canberra I chucked mine on the back of a ute (borrowed) and took it down the tip, they've got a special metal recycling area and it's free.

Good luck with the wiring Smile
I'm about to get to that part... Crying or Very Sad

There is a place in Sydney (Prestons) Called Metalcorp Auto Salvage.
They have come and taken 2 cars away for free!
i dont know what they'd think of a 1/2 cut tho...
but you can get them on 9608 0487 or 9608 0666

they alwyas seem to think its important to leave the car unlocked...
I've never left doors on a car Razz

just look in the trading post for the ads that say "cars removed for free", someone should take it for you.

Thanks for you reply. I will give Sims Metal a call and find out.

My 1/2 cut is a JZX90 chaser. I do have both of the bonnet shocky thingos you were after, your welcome to see if they fit.
I havent wired my motor up yet but I am very keen to use the cruise control myself, sorry.

I would be very keen to see your car too. I am around the Ryde area. I am in the process of fitting a GTR cooler, not an easy task, so maybe you can give me some advice when you see it?
