Looking for help on what to do with the motor of my 1980 imported Celica XX 6cyl 2.0L fuel injected - lead fuel
I am considering upgrading this to a 2.6l or 3.0l as a close to clean fit/swap. Orignally the Celica XX came in two motors the 2.0l and the 2.6l, apparantly the 2.6l was also fitted in the Cressida. Has anyone got some info they can help me with.

wrong section to start with (should be in tech and conversions)
the engine you have is probably the 1g-geu. upgrading to the 2.6 litre engine would be a complete waste of time, it's not a very good engine. upgrading to the 3.0L engine (7m-ge) is probably the easiest fit you'll get, and a pretty good swap if you want to keep it n/a. the electrics are easy, you'll need an m-series crossmember from an ma61, and the 7m-ge engine will bolt up to this... have a bit of a search, this has been talked about a fair bit.

But yeah, if you're gunna change the engine to the 3.0 litre, might as well get the turbo. Same coversion, wee bit more power

I'm assuming by 2.6 he meant 2.8 5m-e, being released in the same shell.

Thanks, but I did mean the 2.6l 4M-E as my Celica XX is the Celica Supra Mk1 1979-1981 which came in both the 2.0L and 2.6L with the first Toyota engine with EFI...Though you can't find much research info on the 2.0l version as most of this models sold were 2.6l, mainly USA.
