I dont have a constant 12v to hook my headunit up to. I ran a wire straight to the battery to take care of this. The headunit has a fuse so should i be bothered putting one between the wire and battery? Should I make it more or less that the headunits internal fuse?

Yes you should use a fuse on that.
Use a 10-15amp fuse for this, best to locate it close to the battery if possible.

I put a dist block near the battery with fuses, then ran wire from this to headunit.

Ok, I don't have a 12v that is easy to get to .
Went and got an inline 15 amp fuse today and I will just connect it in between the battery and the wire.
