i want a supra..

hi all,
I love toyotas, i currently own a 1982 celica with the 21R-U, a tiny bit faster than the stock 21rc...but i want a supra, a MK2, ill have around 5k to spend, i know the aussie version had the 5me crapbox, but wha about imports? any supra lovers, help would be aprreciated...

5me is a tiny bit better than the 21r  But yeah, ADM MA61's came with the 5me's. Some imports (the Celica XX, or GA61) came with the 1gge (pretty sure) 2 litre straight 6. I think some rarer ones came with the M-teu turbo.
But for $5k, you could probably find an MA61 with a 5mge, which is a vast improvement over the 5me (in my opinion), or buy one and put the 5mge in yourself.
For around $8k, you might be lucky enough to find an MA61 with a 7mgte conversion.

they are all beautiful cars.
My mate's old 5M-E MA61 went a lot harder than my 5M-E cressida, too...
but it was manual as well.
very tidy car... just not good for 6"3 people sitting in the back (me)

but being the owner/driver, who cares about the people in the back? 
if you want a little more power, your best bet is to save up a few extra grand and buy one with a 7m-gte or 1jz-gte conversion (the 1j obviously will be more expensive again)

and yeah, no doubt the 5me has more guts,,I HATE THE 21R engine!
