86 Suspension - front strut noises over bumps

Hi
Basically, when i go over the smalest bump at moderate speed (50km) there is painful hitting noise coming from the front struts. Could it be worn bushes and metal is hitting metal? Springs and shocks are really soft, it may be worn out.
Any help/advice would be great!

if it sounds like metal on metal, then u really need to look for where this could be happening. Pull the suckers out (or is it just one side) and have a look.

Sounds like warn bushes, mine is a bit noisy and yeah its because the bushes are f'd... metal on metal.

look at passenger side front wheel well, you might find that the wheel is hitting onto the chasis

Or the nut that holds in the insert may be loose allowing the insert to move around inside the strut. Try and tighten it with some stilsons.

it will be the top bearing in the strut top
