Newbie needs answers!

Hello all,
I just bought a ke55 corolla coupe. Went for my rego check and they found a few things. So here it is
1. Front lower control arm bushes perished
2. Rear shock mount bushes split
Questions:
1 Have any of you replaced either of these yourself, any
problems?
2 Is this something a novice can do?
3 I have a spare 1983 corrola sedan at home, these bushes
interchangable with that car?
Any help with this would be really appreciated

I havent done this myself but it shouldnt be overly complicated. Some of those bolts are bound to be very tight though. wD40 is your friend.
Replace both sides at the same time to keep things nice and even. Better to get the job done now rather than waiting till things stuff up and having things continually uneven.
Put some urethane ones in for a nice tighter feel. Shouldnt cost much more than rubber.
Have you looked into pricing? I know it costs around $150 a corner to get these replaced, including installation. I assume the bushes alone should only be around $50 a corner.

Are the control arm bushes one piece per corner? Just wondering how to get the old ones out of the arm.
I've got no trouble removing the control arm from the subframe.
Is it just a matter of prying them out with a screwdriver? Do you need a press to get them back in? If so, can it be done with a G-clamp?
Just asking so I don't pull the damn thing apart and find I can't remove them.
Thanks.

Front lower control arm bushes need to be pressed out and back in with a Press. They are a friction fit into the arm. Any suspension workshop should be able to do it.
Maybe possible to do in a good big vice and the right sized socket to fit around where you need to push.
