hey guys
just a quick question:
What are people's opinions on maximum blower rpm for an SC14? Ive read a couple of different opinions on the subject, and was just wondered what people have experienced? What actually happens if it spins too fast? Is it possible to have the blower rebuilt in such a way so that it is able to spin faster safely?
thanks

and then the extra heat damages the teflon layer?
more than one person has suggested water injection to help cool the charge and to help seal the rotors a little...
spinning faster is not a great idea, but if it is not too often, you might want to chance your luck
they are not the most efficient SC in the world tho.. being a straight lobe roots style...

Hi,
I know of several people who've had 'teflon coating failures' most if not all running their SC12s/SC14s @ > 10K RPM.
I read some time ago that 10K RPM was considered the maximum for by 'some authority' on the SC12. So I've taken this on board.
Both the SC12 and SC14 setups I've have have always been sized to give max blower RPM (around 10K) at engines max rpm (7500rpm on the 4AGZE) - not that they get revved that high very often.
There is a place (In Perth I believe - I have yet to try and get the details) that can re-coat the SC lobes with a higher spec coating. They are used by Sprintex.
I will be looking into this as I'm not sure how well my SC14 is going to last at up to 20psi boost (done at with a 1.4x SC drive ratio)
Cheers, Nick.
