acrylic or 2pac Tue, 27 September 2005 13:03 Go to next message
yo guys getting my car sprayed and just wondering if you guys know the difference between the two , i know that 2 pac will turn out more glossier with clearing , but for a back yard job do you think acrylic will do the job ? , i am after a cheap sprayjob that will turn out shinny and glossy after a few coats of clear over it.
i can get the acrylic for 180 $ for 4 litres or get the 2 pac for 370 for 4 litres. without harders or thinners.

what your opinion guys?

if its a backyard job you are only able to use acrylic, unless u set up a simulated spray booth, having said that, if its a pig, go acryllic, anything else do 2-pac and get it done properly, u assume 2 pac is glossier, however they are initially very similar, the 2pac will last and be resistant to chipping etc, acryllic will last like 5 years, and chip, and be easily removed off by delaminating tyres, the 2 pac will last 20 years and is alot stronger on drying. Bottom line, you get what u pay for. Hopefully u have a friend who's a spray painter and u can prep your car and get him to spray it on the cheap in 2 pac.

my mate did a 2pac spray at home. made up a booth wif 1500 watt lamps or wateva and a walled up the rooms wif plastic sheets.
but didnt turn out to good. cause he over buffed it Razz and i noticed alot of lil bumpy bits in it. its being black made it very easy to see the f**k ups.
