I also have the standard collection of model kits, including a bunch of old 1950's to 60's kits (IE kits from the 50's, not kits of cars from the 50's) right up till the 80's (i stopped building them in my mid teens)
I also have a small collection of 1/10th scale RC cars.

Haha good old slot cars, my dad has some big cars in a box somewhere haven't been used for ages mainly cos we don't have track for them.
He also had just some small cars and trucks. The old cars would get stuck in the joint of the track and just sit there doing burnouts i even managed to get some smoke off the tyres.

How many tires do you want?LOL
If ever ya want to sell your cars, always looking for a few more, but if you dont ant to sell them, i have almost all the replacement parts there were.
They still make bits and pieces for the old cars in the states, but they are pricey.
If i ever did make a dragstrip will all my straights, i would have a track about 130+ feet long

Used to collect gemstones, and go digging for quartz crystals etc as a kid.
Collected electronics bits too like capacitors etc and mad some bizarre circuits.
Lego was always a favourite too.
Also used to collect recipes, I cut them out of mum's women's magazines and pasted them into my own little recipe book, coming in quite handy now 15 years later when I am living away from home!

I have to also agree with the slot car burnouts.
Me and my mate also did it with my scaletrix cars. The result was smoke, burnout marks and cooked electric motors. We used to jack the car slightly off the track and wedge the front of it so it wouldnt move.

That's sad Greg. Now you don't have nothing to pass onto Scrote.

My wife collects old silver things and Enesco music boxes.

Phonecards?
How about tram tickets?
My first year out of home (1996) I moved to Melbourne and had the great idea of collecting daily met tickets, I kept them in order to be re used on the corresponding day of the next year.
Of course in 1997 Metcard came out and rendered all my old tickets useless

yes!...u could also find the sweet spot if you angles the track and turned the car sideways (still connected to the track) and let it rip....if you get it right it just locks itself up and spins a deep deep grove into the track...or does a seriously cool line locker down the track
wonder why the cars hardly work anymore

I used to collect computers (NERD ALERT) like Sun 3/60's, early IBM PC/XT/AT/386/486, Osbornes, early Amstrads, Atari 520/1040stes etc plus games consoles like Atari 2600's, C64's, sega mega drives, sonic games.
Thankfully those nerd days are long gone and eBay helped me sell off most of the gear for a massive profit. Hooray for ebay
Still have some odd coins and stamps. Gave away my weetbix cards a couple of years ago .
For a while I had a great collection of funky art deco and fifties/sixties furniture with lots of vinyl/chrome and glass. Again sold at a great profit since this missus hates it and sitting on a purple vinyl lounge gets a bit when you're no longer a impoverised uni student.
I have a nice vinyl collection of early and later house/acid house/techno gathering dust somewhere too. Time to hit ebay again with that lot.

Hi,
The old portable Osbornes fetch a few hundred dollars now. You pull maybe another $100 or so with the TRS80. If you got an old Exidy Sorcerer they can get a few hundred dollars also - depending on the condition. With most of these things you get more money if you sell internationally 'cos the Yanks are loaded and there's a lot of collectors over there.
If you got an old IMSAI or ALTAIR you can get up to $4,000 USD for it, if it's got the original parts in it and the switches are in good nick and work - otherwise you'll be lucky to get $2k.
The Apple Lisa commands a pretty good price also - but the old Apple IIs or Macs don't get a real high price. I think the Apple II will take off in price 'cos they're getting rarer and are pretty old now. Macs.... pffft who cares.
ALthough I don't collect old vinyl LPs, I've got a few hundred from my early days, including old original Beatles, Slade, Zep, Purple and TRex and mostly late 60s and 70's stuff. They sound really good when I pump them through one of my old Fender valve amps.

Yeah - I sold the Osborne 4 "Vixen" for colse to $400 on Ebay. Plus the guy paid another $200 to airmail it to the UK. Not bad for a $12 purchase at a a garage sale. Probably worth more now that I think about it.
I'll have to try and find my old man's Mini-Scamp - it was a build-it-yourself computer featured in one of the Electronics magazines in the late 70's (now know as "river's time"). No monitor, no storage, just lots of switches and lights.
