hi just wondering if anyone has tried this before...
obvisouly they'd need a high temp paint (like the stuff they paint brake calipers with)
also what about electroplating (making them chrome) would that the high temps have much of an effect on that?
any other ways i could go about this or any idea's?

Most people paint extractors with a high temp paint. It lasts a few months. The key is to coat the extractors with a substance first, that provides insulation between the hot metal and the paint. Ceramic coating does this.
My extractors have been powder coated with an aluminium based substance which also provides this heat protection. I then painted mine white with UHT-high temp paint. Forgotten exactly but they have outlasted the rest of my exhaust system. The rest has virtually rusted out due to lack of use.
Chrome plating can last a long time too and looks good when it starts to get that blue tinge to it.
