Hey there all, just a quick question, i fitted a bov onto the gz20, and it isnt working, i cant work out why not.
i cut the hose coming from the intercooler to the throttle body, and added the bov there.
then the vaccum line i connected to the inlet manifold.
can anybody think of a reason why this wouldnt work????

Eddie, exactly where on the inlet manifold did you connect the vacuum line?
What engine management are you using? if stock ECU with factory AFM, throw your BOV away.
cheers Chuck.

No aftermarket BOV will work with an AFM and std computer i did this with my MR2 90 model years ago it worked fine.
I would check where the vac line you pulled from, whatr happends when you disconnect the vac line from the BOV does the idel revs go up?? if so you have the right vac if not you have the wrong vac.

ChuckLandwehr wrote on Fri, 30 September 2005 18:39 | Ya all may be running BOV's with your AFM engines, but think where the measurements for air volume are taken. The ECU calculates this from AFM signal. If you have a BOV fitted, you are venting some of the air, which has been used in the calculation by the ECU. When your BOV dumps this air to atmosphere, there is nothing to compensate for the loss. You will end up with a richer than required air fuel mixture.

yes true, a richer fuel mixture when vented on gear change. which also can inturn over time can wash down the bores of oil premoteing premature ring wear.
i havnt had fouled plugs since 2002 when i first did my 4agte conversion, and there is no difference with my fuel economy over the factory 4agze set-up.
