as in title, externally mounted, needs to maintain 6psi at a reasonable rate of flow...
anyone have any recommendations? something old and crappy i can rip one off??
also, generally speaking - how does one regulate the line pressure on these pumps? or is it all a bit hit and miss...
cheers

how reasonable a rate are we talking?
there a lot of little leccy pumps that self-regulate, but flow can't be huge i don't think..
if you are talkin as a decent lift pump, it might pay to look toward the TBI pumps.. they are only designed to provide 15psi, but with big V8 fuel consumption...
as for regulating, you can get fuel pressure regs for carby, TBI and MPI that are all pressure referenced for boost...
in the states they have heaps of MPI crap.. and aftermarket also.. what scheme did you have in mind?

enough to flow around 150-200hp worth of methanol at 6psi - ive yet to figure out what rate that is in L/min
and yes i know methanol will root pumps. i plan on flushing plain petrol through the pump after each use to relube everything and prevent corrosion.

Sizing fuel pumps for Petrol engines (approx):
For Dead-Head type regulators:
Multiply maximum horsepower by .23 to calculate minimum pump size in "free flow" GPH.
Example: 400 HP x .23 = 91 GPH "free flow"
For Return-Style regulators:
Multiply maximum horsepower by .17 to calculate minimum pump size in "free flow" GPH.
Example: 400 HP x .17 = 68 GPH "free flow"
MULTIPLIER for Methanol (approx):
FJ = Fuel Jet
MJ = Methanol jet
MJ = 2 x (FJ - (FJ x 0.15))
SO.....
for 200hp on methanol, using a dead head reg, ill need something that can flow about 78 GPH free flow
using a return type reg, ill need a pump to flow about 58 GPH free flow
i'd ideally need to maintain these kinds of flow rate at around 6psi

tadaa...
HOLLEY HIGH PERFORMANCE RED ELECTRIC FUEL PUMPS--- 97 GPH @ 5-7 POUNDS PRESSURE
a more 'freely' available alternative (ie: PNPL) would be good though...

i have/had a holley low pressure, high volume pump at the back of the RA40 - is a goddam noisy thing.
Cant remember if is 'red' of 'blue' - will be avail. in about a month or less (when i feel inclined to get under the car and remove it)
Carter make a similar sized/power pump as well.
Do any of the solid-state Ashdown pumps flow enough?
