I'm wondering if anyone knows where replacement locks for a TA22 (or any car that will fit a TA22) can be found.

Currently my car can be opened and started with anything from the proper key to a blockbuster card . I checked with Toyota and they don't have them in there 'system' or whatever.

What other cars have the same ignition barrel, door locks, and if possible, fuel cap? Has anyone had sucess securing there car with new locks?

On my last TA22 I used the SOLEX coke key style locks, you can buy them as a pack from any good car parts shop.

Cheers

There's a dude on ebay selling central locking kits for the celica's who says it's a piece of piss. He includes a diagram of how to install apparently. He starts his auctions at 20 bucks then relists another set when they sell.

Central locking in a Celica, is a piece of cake. Buy the kit, Jaycar, Stratho's, Autobarn. 4 door kits are about $30.00. Have a look at what comes with it, and locate the solenoid just below the door latch. You will probably only use a couple of inches of the supplied rods.Cool

Do not do what I saw in a TA22, the clown fitted the solenoid near the door lock button, then tried to fit the door trim over it!!!! Crying or Very Sad Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Crying or Very Sad Embarassed Embarassed

cheers Chuck.

a locksmith mate assures me he can get brand new locks to fit virtually any toyota..

fwiw, the same lock works in a KE10 and KE70 corolla (door and boot locks)

ignition barrel should also be available...

they are pretty cheap too
