wat engine is a 13T & which car is it from???

Im real confused bout this 13T engine thats in a celica i wanna buy and my last thread just got me more confused.Can any1 plz tell me wat type of an engine is a 13T and wat car its suited 4.thnx i really need to noe as i need to decide if im getting this car

I believe they were a JDM light truck or van engine.
1770cc, 95hp @ 5400rpm and 109 ftlb @ 3400rpm. 9:1 comp ratio. Compares favorably to the 2T and 3T engines. In the 80s, quite a few were brought in by the importers because they were a cheap and plentiful bolt in replacement for the 2/3Ts in Celicas/T18s.

ha problem solved
if u check out this website http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/stepho/en gcodes.htm
ull find that the U in 13T-U stands for Japanese pollution control (introduction of "U"nleaded?).Engine uses TTC-C, TTC-L or TTC-V.
so its basically the same as a 3T but u need to run it on TTC-L.but maybe it will run even better on premium who noes

Buy the car on its merits - whether it's a 2T or a 13T is irrelevant. Get it checked out (RACV or your mechanic) and make sure it is in good nick. If the motor runs well and is in good condition then I wouldn't bother changing it. If it's stuffed, then I wouldn't buy the car. I'm assuming it's your first car?
The RACV do car checks for around the $100 mark - cheap investment if it stops you buying a lemon that you end up spending thousands on.

Comp ratio is 9.0:1 - it will run perfectly well on plain unleaded, and you will notice no difference using premium, just a lighter wallet.

ok but i think the guy is using leaded or sumthin.is it ok 2 change types of petrol without doin damage?TTC-L does that stand for unleaded?
also i noticed ur from melbourne.were abouts?

the 13ty is not a bad engine, pretty fuel economic and torquey!
i had one in my celica before
i ran mine on super
i have one sitting in my garage if anyone is interested in a cheap reliable engine

I beleive they had a lean burn, stratified charge type head on them, they may have a third inlet valve to a small separate mini combustion chamber that used a rich mixture to ignite the lean mixture in the main chamber. They were introduced in the 70's when the japanese were having to first meet the new emission standards. - I think these engines would be rather limited from a modification point of view.

im with chriss on this! the mods wont be power increasing at all, i would say a the head would have to be ripped off and chucked in favour of a 2t (im pretty sure it fits)
