Busted fuel / rear brake lines Tue, 04 October 2005 21:52 Go to next message
Hi everyone,

I bought someone's incomplete ae86 project and found that in taking out the gearbox the fuel and brake lines running in the transmission tunnel had been damaged.

What are my options to replace them?

The damage section is only about 15-20cm long on all lines and none of them are actaully punctured. I'm considering cutting out the dodgy section and just silver soldiering new bits of pipe in.

Opinions?

easiest fix for the fuel line would be to cut out the damaged section and replace with some rubber hose,or get a small lenght of steel line and use the hose to join in the new and old sections.
As for the brake line do it properly and take the whole thing out and get a new one made at the brake shop. Not to hard to bend it into place as you refit it.

Hmm, would rubber sections be suitable in an efi setup though?

if its hose to suit efi you'll be right

but dont muck around with the brake lines!
get some copper brake lines, easy to bend to
the shape you need
