4K engine info Wed, 05 October 2005 23:30 Go to next message
hey guys,

ok im not stupid and i totally understand engine setups such as Single overhead cam and dual overhead cam, but why when im reading about 4K's im hearing things like "its a pushrod style engine". ok, im pretty sure its just a single overhead setup. Or is it totally different to what i thought, and if so, how it differs?? anyone have any pics, like comparing the 4k with another type of setup?

i cant even believe im asking this because it is such a basic question Rolling Eyes

anyways.. thanks guys

Overhead type cam setups are....overhead of the valves in the head

Pushrod type cam setups have the cams located in the block of the engine and use a "pushrod" along with lifters, tappets etc to open and close your valves which are still located in your head like an overhead setup

ahhh i see now. yeh i understand that.

i DO know that its a OHV engine, but didnt understand why people were using the term pushrod style (as pushrods meaning like conrod etc) but i get it now.

i do wish tho that K engines were crossflow.. would open up a whole new world..

does anyone have any fotos of the K engine setup?
cheers
