1UZFE LPG twin Turbo. What computer!???

Could someone tell me if I need an engine management computer if I want to run straight LPG? Does the standard computer control advance curve or is there a way around this? I want to turbo the sweet quad cam V8 and put it into my VH Commodore running the Gas. I am definently going the 1UZ, but am still weighing the LPG thing as well as the single (Garret Ta45?) or twin turbo (twin Nissan VG30DET (notTT) BB turbos) route? Hit me with yer suggestions! Danks!

Sounds like a great conversion dude, but why would you want to run it on LPG?.Don`t get me wrong i`m all for LPG but these engines aren`t too bad on petrol?.....i wouldn`t bother.....my opinion only

Have you seen the Datto 1200 with Lpg Sr20 @ Jamboree? Goes like the clappas (higher octane and more boost I believe) and RUNS on a Dime (excuse the crap old phrases!) I want to be different, and (I hope) it negates the need for an aftermarket EMS as well$$$... Thanks for your suggestion.

On a side note....
How would you plan on installing a single turbo on a V engine.....
Some kind of cross over pipe from one exhaust manifold that joins the other????
Surely it would be imposible to introduce the same load on all cylinders when one manifold is twice as long as the other.
This doesn't sound like a smart idea to me but would be curious as to your ideas.

A single turbo conversion is quite easy really roughly equal load can be achieved by getting the lengths as close as possible and also by changing the diameter of the collector pipes. I was told it is all a load of sh!*t though (equal pressures that is) and have seen a single turbo V8 using modified headers. Have you seen the yellow single turbo carby V8 torana (HUGE coola) or the Walkinshaw with the TA45 Garrett? It can be done, just not sure what is best... lag may be a problem but outright horepower = awesome!

Thanks Norbie. Is there any other negatives though? can you run NOS with LPG? I am starting to wonder if it is worth the hassle too, especially since you cannot run jungle juice or c16 anymore. still haven't soted the turbo thing though... A garrett plain bearing TA45 (or T04) would make BIG HP, but cost is $2600+ wastegate, and probably take lots of revs to bring on boost, then big lag. Or 2xVG30 turbos (is there a good toyota turbo available from a 2.5-3.0 litre motor) for $400.00 each and internal wastegates. heaps cheaper, but probably not the HP. Confuzin!!

You could try CT26's.
I think that's what Jamie runs on his 1UZ
This site has a lot of info on it

This is something I have studied quite a lot. The main problem with LPG is not in the fuel itself, but in the fuel systems that are available.
I could ramble on for hours, but to save making everyone else nod off, feel free to email/PM/MSN/phone me and talk about it.

Just for reference...
Optimax: RON=98 MON=86(min) R+M/2=92
LPG: RON=100 MON=92(min) R+M/2=96
That is a pretty big increase.. but a hell of a lot of experimenting I would think. I'm interested in hearing anything about 1UZ turbos.. any threads on them??
