The factory redline on my AE101 GZE is 7750, same as all the 16v 4age's... but it's very pointless reving it past 5500-6000 because the engine looses alot of torque

Best i ever got out of my 4agze was 8400rpm Well that is what the readout for Top rev was on the microtech after a drag one night when i forgot i had turned the rev limiter off! haha
Also hit 7700 in 5th gear... little champion.. couldn't kill the sprinter

man my 16v bigport needs new somethings.......valve springs I think...as it makes horrible sounds after 6000rpm..just sounds really bad and unhealthy....previous owner liked to take it to 8000rpm on regular occasions I may add.....
can anyone tell me what they think this is..if its not the valve springs....

beyond 7000rpm they arent wonderful, unless pushed there by Mr Turbo.
The SC12 supercharger usually attached to a 4agze runs out of flow up at the really high RPM's with a pulley kit... or so some say. Althought the two GZEs ive been in pulled very well up to redline.
if selecting a turbo on a stock GZE engine.... i would aim for an RPM limit of 7-7.5k. Anything more than that and you are pushing the limits methinks.
My RB25 turbo went well on my stock 100kW 4age right up to redline. More boost would have been awesome too!
