Hi all.
I need a 100% correct answer please as to whether or not the 3s-ge from the Australian delivered MR2 Bathurst had the starter motor in the bellhousing or not... I'm lead to believe that most late model 3s- equiped cars have the starter in the bellhousing. Looking at the possibility of 3s-ge in sv21 camry and keeping standard gearbox(starter in gearbox bellhousing)... engine is obviously from later model MR2 bathurst. I have read all the posts so far on 3s- swaps, but no-one really seems 100% sure on the ease of a swap. Scoured the web for info need info for swap before buying engine package, and the price of the package is valid only for this week.
All help greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the input FWDcelica,
sorry i took so long to write back. The 3s engines share the same mounts except for the timing belt cover side... this mount needs to be shimmed to drop the engine around 55mm so as every other mount bolts up to the crossmembers and so that the engine sits level. AND there is no provision for power steering as the MR2 uses an electronic unit and there is no pump on the block. THIS CONVERSION IS A PAIN IN THE ARSE! got it as far as having the engine sitting on mounts but slightly uneven in height... buying the snims and new stud mounts tomorrow, then everything can be wired and made to work.

The 3SGTE's use a starter mounting in the bellhousing, which sits directly under the inlet manifold at the back of the block. This is the same for the GT-Fours and MR2s. Dont know if this helps or not.

How big is the power steering electronic box? It still uses hydraulics doesnt it, just with an electric pump isntead of mechanical.
