TA22 - Changing Springs.

All
Gotta do the springs/shocks on the TA22.
The rear is easy, know how to do this. The front on the other hand, aside from removing the 3 nuts at the top of the strut - to get the strut out of the car do you need to seperate the bottom of the strut from a balljoint (ala commodore) OR can i just unbolt the lower arm from the crossmember to remove the whole thing?
Do I need to compress the spring to get it out of the car or when the bottom of the strut is free from the lower control arm, will it come out anyways (methinks it will)
Given the setup on the Celica is macpherson strut, is the strut actually removable from the strut housing or is it one complete unit?
Is there an easier better way to do this?
Sorry for all the questions never done this before, thats all.

Unbolt the bottom of the strut from the lower control arm and the whole assembly comes out. Yes you will need spring compressors to remove the spring, as there is a fair amount of pre-load (ie the springs are compressed even when there's no weight on them). Yes, the strut inserts can be removed from the strut housing.

dude you're a million miles away - but thanks heaps for the offer nonetheless.
i've done em in commodore's before, so, thought i better go thru the celica library and sure enough they're easier than the commode so its all good!!!!
(just gotta get the bloody things - should be in on friday)
