recently got my car back on teh road, the last major thing i did was w head gasket.. (ahh love them 7m's) car running again after some electrical problems but now has a major loss of power. all hoses are solid and connected, all electrics plugged in..

car is a bastard to launch and will not move unless i give it a rev above 2500rpm, even after that it bogs down.. any help please..

also the boost comes on really dodgy not smoothe.. any tips please

Check the efi computer for error codes.
Sudden losses in power for no apparent reason are often caused by the computer running in 'limp mode' due to a faulty sensor.

How to do it varies, but it's effectively finding the diagnostics plug under the bonnet and shorting the T and E1 or the T1 and E1 or whatever your motor has.
Then you turn the key to the on position and look at the Check engine warning light in the dash.
It should flash in a certain sequence.

If it flashes continuously, there's no probs.
If you get some codes, that tells you where to look.

Another possibility is that the catalytic converter has broken internally and caused a blockage. That wouldnt show a code, but it would explain both the loss in power and the weird change in boost buildup.

Cant hurt to double check the cam timings either.
Since your last work was the head gasket, it's possible that you or whoever did it, accidently got the cams off by a tooth.

Is it a smooth idle?
You could have the CAS one tooth out.
Its a bitch to reinstall.

the compression is fine, and the only fault codes that come up are an air-con code and a speedo cable code, both of which i have an explaniation for having no air con compressor and no speedo cable.. could be CAS but i got the timing spot on..

actually come to think of it there is a problem, this may sound wierd but when i lightly accelerate it retards the timing then advances it when i accelerate more..

i been told it could be knock sensor or computer, i dont wanna change the computer.. coz i dont have a spare..

i have no cat so it aint that, and my bro and i did the head gasket and im fairly sure that we got it spot on.. will check anyway..

any other ideas please..
