hey guys,
ive noticed a few times now that when driving my jzz30 soarer i wil just loose power for a split second.
my dash will blink, stereo cut out and steering go stiff (no power steer) just for a split second then go back to normal.
i dont loose any of my preset radio stations but i do loose my ODD trip kms. just the ones that ive done on the curren tank of fuel.
now its never a bumpy road, im not thrashing it. just straght cruzing. and i can go for weeks and nothing happen, then it will cut out 3 times just driving home.
the last time it happened i was stopped at a set of lights. and the engine stalled all together.
the car is stock. apart from a bit more boost and car alarm it hasnt been touched
any have any ideas? ive asked around but in one of these things it could be anything!!!
any help would be great
thank you
nick

I have the same problem in my car, albeit a z20! I can be driving along and my turbo timer will kick in as if the car has been turned off and on quite quickly... sometimes it can be quite violent and cause the car to shudder.
Maybe its a Soarer thing?
I don't actually lose any radio settings, or km's travelled or anything though, it doesn't seem long enough to affect it.
Sorry to not be of any help, but i'm interested in finding out some possible solutions too!
Dan

yeah, same thing. it is only just enough for the motor to stall. although i think it must roll start its self really quick. like there is only a small hesitation when driving. though stalled completly at the lights.

The first thing i would look is the aftermarket alarm, if it's got an imoblizer fitted it might be faulty.

My money is on the immobiliser section of the alarm cutting something like fuel and/or ignition. That would explain it at least. Not sure about the trip meter though.

a prob lik ethat could take ages
im pretty sure they will not give u a fixed quote
i know i wouldnt
u might just have to pay by the hour untill its fixed
did the prob start after u fitted the alarm
if it did maybe u can bypass the alarm and see what happens

yeah. ive got a few things i can check and do b4 i even think about going to auto electrician.
i just scrubbed all the bat terminals and greased them up. but as i said, i can go for 2 weeks and nothing go wrong.
i'll just have to wait and see.
im gonna go see strathfield when i get home and ask them about the imobiliser. and then go to battery testing place and see if its my bat or terminals

i had prob with soarer once each time u hit about 6 kph it would stall
when i jacked it up in air and drove it
it would not stall
so it was a bad relay connection
but check around the battery section they tend to throw acid everywhere and corrode some terminals
