Half cut Transport
|

Hey guys,
I'm getting a half cut in about a week and i need some transportation.
The most important thing is that the truck itself can unload the cut onto my property seeing as i don't have a forklift to take it off the truck.
Please if any one knows any transport companies with the option to unload things please let me know.
Thanks in advance.
P.S i searched.

ahh if your reasonably close to the wrecker like anything under 1 1/2 hrs drive i consider close enough to drive for a 1/2 cut then hire a damn ute. If you have an engine crane that will lift the half cut off the ute no worries.
Most half cut suppliers can arrange or even deliver half cuts
so thats another option

I was going to use the importers transport but they said i would need to provide a forklift.
Any other ideas?

Queensland, yeah im in sydney.
I worked out one idea, i'll get it dropped off at my fathers workplace, he has forklifts there and he could load it onto a trailer.
But my 1st preference would be straight to my house.

Btw do you reckon it would come in a semi or a tilt tray truck?

Depends what transport company you use to bring it down, but if it's a general freight company it will come down in a semi-trailer tautliner, the trailers which have a roof and side curtains, then probably dropped off at their Sydney depot, then brought to you or wherever you nominate as the delivery point on a smaller truck, but as I said it depends which transport company you use.
If you want I can check with my boss tomorrow how much the transport company I work for would charge to bring it down and deliver it to you. We have a Brisbane depot, so it would have to be dropped off there or picked up by the guys from that depot, then it would go to our HQ in Dubbo, then onto another semi-trailer down to Sydney, then delivered to you. I'm guessing that the size of the halfcut on the wooden pallet it's on would take up the room of say 4 normal pallets, so I'll use that as a guide. It would have to be delivered to a place that has a forklift or crane though, as our trucks don't have cranes on board. I'll get back to you with a price tomorrow. Also our transport company does a lot of sensitive and fragile freight, so it would be in good hands.

Cheaper way (but you need time)
Have it delivered to your father's workshop
Drive to Qld towing a box trailer
strip the halfcut whiel up there & taking a lot of pix
dispose of the body, etc that you don't need (ie the bulky stuff)
put everything else (ie the stuff you do need) in the box trailer & drive back to Sydney

or hire a ute from kennards with the crane and drive up to qld and pick up drop ute off. dont know costs but it would be easy if you have time and up for the drive.

HEy there mate, if your up for a drive then just use a trailer....
put the halfcut on abit of a lean, oneside in the trailer othere side on the side of the trailer, dont use a pallet...
strap it all on and drive back home...
when you get home have a engine crane to lift halfcut out of trailer and all is done..
if u dont have a engine crane u can hire them pretty cheap

Thanks for all the tips guys, there is pretty much no chance that i can get it myself.
So i'll probably just use the service the importers provide, they qouted me $350 to bring it to any destination in sydney.
Is that a good price? Could i get any cheaper?
cheers simon

Yeh dude that's a pretty damn good price, if it came down through my company I think it was nearly twice that, because it has to through Dubbo and onto another semi. I think if you used the importers service I'm sure they'd be responsible for the safe transport of it.
Good luck.
