4agze alternator setup RWD (for ae86) *How does it all go together and what do i need???* Mon, 10 October 2005 23:56 Go to next message
Hey all

i have a problem with my alternator on my 4agze.
Im not sure what alternator fits the mount on my engine, it doesnt look like a stock mount.
I've purchased a stock alternator mount (damn its big) but i dont have the tensioner bit that holds the bottom of the alternator.
I've also purchased the alternator seperately for a steep price but i was desperate.

I need pictures of the whole alternator setup on the engine, with or without power steering and air con on the mount.
Any (clear) pics of the exhaust side of the engine where the alternator mounts to would be appreciated aswel.

If you could post here or send to my email @ johnmarone@hotmail.com then i'd be a very happy chap Smile

Cheers
Choony

OK, I have one setup in car and one in pieces in the shed, you can come take a look at it any time I'm home (not that often). PM me if you want to.

From memory, the alt lower mount bolts through that BIG chunk of cast iron on the exhaust side of the engine, and the upper mount bolts onto a small cast iron mount held in place against the aircon compressor by the aircon compressor lower two mount bolts.

If you don't have the aircon compressor and small bit of iron then it is custom mount all the way. Not too hard, but a bit time consuming.

Hen

PS, rthy, that picture is highly useful.

tell you the easy way..go to the wreckers and find your self a 4AFE in an AE92 rolla..must be 4afe..steal the altenator bracket off it..and put it in the same place as it was on the 4AFE (exhaust side just like that MR2 version GZE in the pic..) make a little slider for adjustment..simple..the slider doesn't have to support any weight..just be ridgid enough for belt tension..
