Removing the Dash on an RA65

I have raditator fluid running from under the dash, So I tried pulling the thing apart to see where is was coming from.
I managed to get as far as removing the centre console, glovebox, and pannele around the steering column. Removed screws under the demisster vents and bolts near each door.
Can anyone provide give me an idea off what I need to do to remove the dash?

Your heater core is obviously leaking (probably rusted through). Pretty common problem with older cars. Unfortunately it's a bitch to get at, you pretty much have to pull most of the dash out to get at it! Good luck.

I did it a few months ago in my MA61 (should be similar to an RA65), but can't for the life of me remember the order I did it in! I just kept pulling stuff off until I got to the part I was after. It's not rocket science, you should be able to figure it out.

hey dude i dont know if you need to or not but if you want to remove the top of the actual dash you have to pull out the vents and there is 4 little screws hiding away, this has eluded me on more than one occasion

I managed to find a wrecker that will supply me with a heater core for $35 as well as give me some advice as to removing the dash.
Thanks Guys.

Hey dude, I've done this, if you get stuck ask me, was a pain in the arse. Also, I've got it down to about 20 mins to remove the whole dash...done it a few too many times
And yes that heater core is a BITCH to get at.

Before my HDD died, I had a complete web page detailing step by step how to do it, and it had pics too....
I actually had the thing for the heater core too

Well I managed to do it, took me a while though...
Here are something to get before you start if you don't have them already, grease, instrament dash bulbs, and heater core, as you wont be going anywhere till you put everything bad.
1. Remove handbreak glovebox
2. Remove H shape cover on climate control and Ash tray.
3. Remove black cover on stereo and center console
4. Might need to remove the passenger side, side footwell panel to be able to remove the glove box.
5. remove dash glove box, and ECU.
6. remove lower panel of steering column cover.
7. remove hood over instrument panel.
8. You will have to reach behind the instrument panel from underneath to remove the speed cable to be able to get the instrument panel out. this is where the bulbs will come in handy cause when removeing the instrument panel it gets bumped around, and if your bulbs where anything like mine a slight bump will break them.
9. remove the demister vent cover to reveal two screws under each. now you should be able to see all the mounting points for the dash.
10. remove piler cover between the doors and windscreen, There are clips one at the top, one in the middle and then there is a L shape latch on them, you kinda have to try and remove the top and midle clip without breaking anything and then lift it up to remove it.
10a. Remove the dash.
11. to make life easier you should remove the steel bar that runs under the dash, as it gets in the way when you try to remove the climate control unit.
12. You can remove the A/C unit (gray box behind dash glove box) but you will need to get it re-gased. Bit more or a PITA if you choose not to.
13. undo all the Black, White and Blue cables runing from climate control console from the other ends.
14. Forgot to say Drain out the Radiator and disconnect the two pipes on the heater core. The blue cables runs into the engine bay, so you will can disconnet it while your disconnecting the pipes.
15. Oh you will also need to remove the black airflow duct to get to the cable that runs behind the climate control console.
16. Remove the climate control console.
17. Final remove the Climate Control unit and see the heater core.
Just put everthing back in reverse order and you should be as good as new. Have Fun I sure did...

Yeah looking forward to having to do it all again... NOT. might have to for the engine conversion... hopefully not to far off in the furture.
Oh I forgot to mention the grease was for the climate control unit and the speedo cable. Should lube them up before you put it back.

Its a pain in the arse to pull out, but at least you know exactly what to do the next times though. I've done it a few times for various reasons, and I'm going to have to do it again for the new car.
With the speedo cable yeah, grease it up, mine went all funny and my speedo would jiggle a bit, now its AOK.
