I think it would be pretty hard to calculate an average when there is probably less than a dozen of them in the entire country!

I think your best option is to learn how to speak English... Seriously, I can hardly understand what you're talking about.

If by "WRX-beater" you mean a car that can do a 13 second 1/4 mile (that will beat a stocker), the answer is not much... if you have the skills and equipment to do an engine conversion yourself. I reckon I could do it for $5k max, but probably a fair bit less.
If you pay a shop to do it, you should probably triple that figure and you'd be about right...
A 4A of any description in a Celica is definitely not common, mostly because there are better options available if you're doing an engine swap.

ok...so say i have $6000-$7000 to spend on a celica... what options would i have?
as i see it i can buy a decent one around the 4-5g mark...wid not much left over to do anything to it.
what are my options? What would result in the better car:
a) save up for a decent engine
b) work the existing one
c) find a car with a decent engine in it for around 5g n fix it up?
any other possibilities?
