AE82 100KW Idle Issues Sun, 16 October 2005 01:38 Go to next message
Hey all,
I have a AE82 100kw Swap and i have some issues idleing when warm. Sometimes when im driving i stop at the lights and the idle doesnt drop below 2000rpm. If i give it a good rev past around 3500rpm it will then drop. Ive checked the throttle body to see if it isnt releasing properly but it seem ok. Could it be a vaccum issue or you think maybe it is something to do with the throttle not releasing?

Could be a faulty idle stepper motor (if they have them) or even a sticky cable. There are dozens of things that can cause it, Next time pull over and see if you can see what it is.

If you are using the stock 100kw airbox, try disconnecting the valve at the front of the airbox or blocking the vacuum line that goes to the throttlebody.

Also try sticking your finger over the cold idle bypass hole in the bottom of the inside of the throttlebody when it is idleing high to see if the revs drop. Use a rag 'cause it could be a bit hot if the hot water is getting through properly.
