I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience with forged pistons or any aftermarket high compression piston manufacturer that can easily be obtained in Australia, even better for a 3S-GE...
?
Any takers?

I suppose I'd have to talk to Penrith toyota about the TRD pistons? I couldn't find anything on the TRD website catalog, but I imagine that's a pretty damn hopeless catalogue, as are most online ones

You need the Jap one, and I'd suggest you chat to Bruce Sollitt in NZ - he's actually CHEAPER despite the stuff coming all the way from NZ. That said, TRD slugs will set you back a bit.

I have to ask, would MR-2 pistons also suit the FWD Celica engine? I'm assuming they are one and the same...

That you'll have to ask someone who knows more about 3SGEs than me. My knowledge is pretty superficial - they are pretty similar to 2JZGE pistons so I had a short lived interest in a couple different types in a vain attempt to cheaply bump the comp up in mine.
Glenn Booth, BillS, Puzzigully and Terry Obeirne are the guys to ask about 3SGEs.
Cheers Dave.
