yer that was my original plan. but in reality the car is not as good as the pics make it. there are so many annoying things with it that hold me back on doing it up. for example: no power steering. and the car needs to be de-rusted and re painted. Where could i find a 1g-gte in perth?

Hey Daymoe,
I think I've seen you go past a few times!
Next time, drop in and we can have a natter - I may even fire up the 1J sitting out the back (not that I really need an excuse).
Regards
Peter

nah im pretty sure that wasnt the case. because on previous occasions to that explosion the backfires the car produced naturally were extremely loud..almost on par to this one. and the conditions were perfect for the worst possible explosion.
ie.
1. humid conditions - happend just after the rain on the day
2. quick release of accelerater - i did a U turn mashed the pedal the quick released it when i got wheel spin
3. the engine was still cold - it backfires more when the car has just been turned on.
So no potatoes and no turning the key off then on during motion. which are the first two explanations people come up with.
that settles that then
