4ag 20Valve AW11 ignition breakdown Wed, 19 October 2005 09:44 Go to next message
I just fitted a stock 4ag 20Valve silvertop to my AW11. I'm running a stock ECU etc. It starts fine, idles fine, and runs fine until but seems to rev limit at 4500rpm. I know its got fuel and its not loosing power to the igniters of coil. Its as if something in the ECU is rev limiting it at 4500 rpm. I have the speed sensor connected and have no error codes on the check connector... ANY IDEAS ???????

Hi Charlie,

Just wondering if somehow the ECU could be seeing double the rpm of what the engine is doing, so its thinking its doing 8200rpm (factory rev limit) when the engine is actually spinning at 4k - 5k.

Is it possible there is any interference with the distributor signal wires? Where have you mounted the coil? anywhere close to the wires coming off the distributor?
