My brother needs a new motor for his 1985 hilux petrol.
Importers have 'Brand New' 4Y 2.2 litre petrol moters for $1550.
I have asked where they are from, the importers say 'Japan'. I don't belive them. Those motors would not meet 1990 spec emmisions, let alone 2005 spec. I don't care if they are Chinese engines, but i can tell when these guys are bullshitting.
Does anyone know the actual source of these engines??
I'm pretty sure Y series engines were used in forklifts and the like long after they were retired from use in cars and commercials, so it's plausible they really are new.
A visual inspection will tell you whether they're lying though. All the steam cleaning in the world won't make an old engine look new!
