Hey fellas,
im in melbourne and have an 89 GLX Cressida and really really wana do the 1JZ conversion! However I am not confident that I could do it myself.. Anyone like to help me carry out a complete conversion (payment in $ or beer or bit of both) or can anyone recomend a good workshop that would do it for a reasonable price?
Cheers
Andy

A) Wrong section
B) You might want to say what parts/tool you have/need.
Basically a little bit more details than 'I want to do a conversion, come help me'.

yep fair points, i should have been more direct. Is a manual conversion viable for the 7MGE?

Well, with the 1JZ, what ARE you confident you could do yourself? A lot of people seem to get most things assembled alright, and just struggle a bit with the wires - what do you think are your weaker areas?

Yeh could probably get it in myself but would struggle with the wiring. Haven't done any sort of wiring before

I have a limited range of tools, pretty much only a socket set plus common power tools. Don't have hoist or ramps or anything. Would anyone be interested in giving me a hand with this conversion?

buy chassis stands.. 2 sets.. they are cheap enough and they are always useful. ramps suck the big one.. chassis stands rock!
buy a trolley jack. they are very useful.
hire engine hoist/crane... unless you will use it often and can afford the $300 or so for a cheapy.. (prolly better to hire a bigger one anyway)

Ringwood area, still have to look into buying a motor/half cut. Not sure where the best place is to look, any ideas?

by the sounds of things, you should seriously investigate all costs involved before doing anything.. it doesn't sound like you really understand what's involved in a conversion (no offence intended at all)

Well you only live just up the road from me... PM me and maybe if I've got a few minutes to spare sometime I can talk you through what you need to get a bit more specifically.
