Modified 1986 AE86 Sprinter Trueno - SOLD Sat, 22 October 2005 18:40 Go to next message
edit: car is now sold.

We bought this AE86 in Japan for a client, who ended up pulling a fast one. Rather than resell it in Japan, I figured I'd pay for it and use it while my R32 was getting some work done. Now that its landed I just cbf, and need the money for other things, so I've decided to sell it. It is currently located in Melbourne.

It has an import approval (which you will recieve), but has not been complied yet. I can help you compliance it if you are in VIC or SA. If you are in any other state, then you will have to organise it yourself as the compliance engineers certificate is only valid if issued in your own state. Obviously it dosen't come with rego.

You will recieve the car as is, and with all the parts in the pics. Please check the pics and judge for yourself if you're comfortable with the level of rust and the condition of paint (and mismatched colour schemes). I haven't had time to comb the car and make up a full list of mods, for now please use the pics as a guide as to what it has, as you will recieve everything on the car in the pics (yes that includes the blinged out steering wheel and drift button).

Images can be found here

If there is anything else on the car you want to see more detailed pics of, please post it in a reply in this thread.

The engine is from an AE92 Levin. It has a half cage, and when purchased we were told it had a TRD LSD. I haven't determined if it is a 1, 1.5 or 2 Way though. It has a quick shift kit and aftermarket extractors and exhaust. The car drives normally and has no mechanical issues (other than the rust I guess).

The price is $9000. It is non negotiable. I can organise interstate transport at your cost. Don't make stupid offers, and you know where you can shove your takumi tax comments Very Happy I will not take parts off the car and sell it seperately.

You can test drive the car if you're willing to pay a $50 non refundable deposit. Hopefully that's enough to scare off the tyre kickers and fanboys who have no real intention of buying the car.

If you are interested in the car, then please respond in this thread, please do not PM me questions or offers, as chances are it will help others if posted in public.

$9000 for a rusty dunger

i dont see anyway this car could be road regged with that amount of under body rust some in the chassis rails also, no wonder the guy did a runner rather than pay for it!

First off, great response Rolling Eyes. Makes me wonder if you even read what I wrote in my thread or you guys just filtered some bits before you went into anti Takumi rage.

I posted as many pics as I could of the rust, obviously I'm not trying to hide the fact that it has rust and the imperfections on the car. The car didn't just land. I never said it did.

I've seen what happens when a mate tried to sell his Trueno. All he got were phone calls from fanboys with no real money or any intention of buying the car, all they wanted to do was test drive a JDM tyte trueno so they could go home to their mates and rave on about how they were Takumi for all of 15 minutes. Obviously if you were serious and still want the car after seeing all the pics then you will get over the $50 hurdle.

Finally I don't have to justify what I want for something to you Initial D vigilantes. I haven't made an effort to hide anything about this car, and I've stated my terms as well. If you're not comfortable with either then STFU.

but the point is:

it's still a rusty bent bucket of poo with a thrashed out 4A

so it's not worth $9000

yuo probably changed your mind about using it yourself because you couldn't get it complied.

Actually I haven't tried to get it complied yet, I originally wanted it for parts for my aussie sprinter, but then I took a different path with it. So I thought I'd use it while my R32 was off the road, but I have a Hyundai Lantra now to drive around in so I don't need to put this car on the road.

I can't be bothered parting it out, or putting it on the road. So I'm selling it as it is, and the next owner can do what they want with it.

As for if its worth $9000. People seem to be happy paying 12k for a clapped out 4ac aussie ae86 on ebay and 19k for a "turnano" a couple of threads down. I don't think 9k is a bad asking price even if it is only for the aftermarket and spare parts hanging off it.

if you chose a hyandai over this then it must be a good car haha

9000 for thrashed out rust i guess with some evidence of a 86 in there, without compilance

each to there own i guess, sounds like youd be a fool to import through j-spec

Thank you all for your wonderful comments. Rolling Eyes

The car has been sold pending payment for $8500 in melbourne. And yes, the buyer knows about the rust, he has no intention of using the shell. All parts and panels will be transferred onto an already registered 4AC AE86.
