Over the weekend i blocked off the ABV on my ae101 gze completely but for some unknown reason after doing so my idle sat at 2500rpm and wouldnt drop..
Any ideas?
i put the abv back and the idle was back to normal? Why?

interesting, are there any vacuum lines that are were disconnected? did u just pull it off, install a plate with some kind of gasket and place it back on to block it off?
Running standard computer?

nope..coz once i put the abv back on it went back to normal.
i used a metal plate with hi temp silicon to seal the abv and blocked off the other with a plastic solid pipe.
yep standard ecu..
i have a fmic if that makes any difference...
any ideas...im stumped!

whats this "and blocked off the other with a plastic solid pipe."
i was under the impression u just block the main part of the abv?? like in the photo below, only blocking the bit he's made the plate for;

yeah i removed the abv right off the car and blocked the hole off with a plate exactly like in your picture.
Then there is the oulet from the supercharger also from the abv and i blocked that off with a plastic solid pipe with some rubber hose and hose clamps.
does that sound right

Well, i just installed that plate in the pic (not my pic, but its exactly what i did + gasket paper to make the seal) then just connected it to the engine again, no other changes.
It should be noted, my engine runs exactly the same as it did b4 i did the plate mod. However i am yet to install the ea falcon pulley to get my boost increase. But after i did the plate, and idle was exactly the same.
Hope someone else can shed more light on it, as yeah, im not much use, personally, id just try with the plate and not block the other bit, see what happens, only takes 5 min.

It sounds like you have an air leak somewhere. Check all the plates and seals again. Also there is usually a vac line from manifold to ABV, check you haven't left this dangling and unplugged.

nope..
took a screw and plugged it up good!.
maybe the plate was leaking..but i figured even if it was leaking it would just suck air because that part is the inlet manifold section and its a map gze.I even tried running the car with no air filter all together and it still runs fine.
any other ideas guys
thanks for all your help peoples

I also run a map gze, but if theres a vac hose off (the one below the ISCV came off once.. when i put a new speedo cable in ) it idle'd high then, around 2000rpm i think.

well the ISCV thing your talking about is mounted right near the abv correct?
Well i have that ACV on top of the supercharger but the other sensor is gone.
so im not sure it it is necessary.
it drives and idles fine now whiel the abv is still there.

yeah near the abv, only point i was making is that a vacuum leak even with map sensor with increase your idle (and this is only a tiny line that came out in my case, and it idle'd near 2000rpm). So id say Henn is on the money with a vacuum leak being the casue.

Hey man, definately vacuum hose leak as long as your sure the 2 seal points in the ABV mod are definately sealed. Aside from the thottle being slightly open (which its not), small hole somewhere after the throttle butterfly is the only thing that could cause higher idle in this situation.
I had the same problem after i took off throttle body to change supercharger out. 2500rpm idle was exactly equal to one std ~5mm diameter vacuum hose open.
Initially I missed another and the hoe was idling at +5000rpm, try searching for that in the engine bay while engines running...not fun
