Can a Lux Drift?

Ive got a shitty old 72 lux that im goin to be fully rebuildig and dropping in a lexus v8 soon.
I want it to be a good looking truck (low big rims) but also want to be able to drift it. I will put all custom suspension it it but want to know if it is possible or will all the weight in the front be a problem?
Thanks
Luke

it might be able to
piss the std auto that comes with the 1uz
maybe even get an aftermarket ecu and up the rev limiter abit
mine is an auto so once it changes into 2nd gear its all over
will take abit of work as the 1uz hasnt got alot of torque like a 1j turbo does to keep the wheels spinnig but i could be wrong
hope u have about 20 grand if yr goin to v8 it and air bag it and restore it
not to sure how the air bags will go drifting but if the car is low u will prob end up fukin the body
u should see what drifting professionally does to the rear quarters

ill put extractors and cams and shit in and have a supra 5speed behind the engine. With the light arse and aroun 150rwkw it should be enough
With the suspension i was more thinkin putting coil overs from someother car in to make it nice and stiff and it could be low by movin the mounting point for the suspension.
Its a long term project and ill be doin alot of the work myself to keep it a little cheaper.

yer but its the parts that are expensive
im goin to the states next week to see what stuff they have for hiluxes
bloody drop spindles here are 500 bucks
hope theyre cheaper in usa
a 1uz with a strong manual gbox conversion will cost u about 4000 in parts plus another 2000 if u go aftermarket which u prob will if u do the cams
but my opinion is if u give it sa very good paint job stay away from drifting
even the pros run of the track and this can damage yr paint easily

maby ill just primer it and go flat black for a stealth look and have it a mad drifter.
Im more interested in drifting and have always wanted to put a v8 into a lux.
I know it would be better to do in a diff car but i want to be diff and already have a lux.

Extractors and cams you'll be looking at closer to 250rwkw than 150rwkw.

you can try but a leaf sprung live axel rear end isnt going to be much fun, having no weight at the back of the car isnt going to be beneficial on a drifter as you will have zero high speed stability..
Im with sideshow on this one...airbag it, give it a good paintjob and rip some skids...just dont spend a lot of time restoring something like that and then plough it into a wall

There was a datto ute that was setup for drag that was at an IDA drift day earlier this year, he went surprisingly well, i'll throw some pics up of it tonight if you want proof.

With the exchange rate where it is at the moment you could just buy them over the internet pretty easily at a good price with the shipping component added for less than 500 I would have thought.

Oops, got a little bit of rust there do we?
As said, the leaf spring rear will make it harder to acheive a stable drift, and also the old front end setup wont make it easy either. It is possible, hell, anythings possible, but it won't be easy.
