Radiated turbo heat

Hey guys,
Has anybody had direct experience where the turbo radiates heat off onto the radiator?
I have a GT4 which is a transverse 2.0l turbo 4, with the turbo mounted directly behind the radiator. There's about a 40mm gap between the dump pipe and the radiator.
The engine has just been rebuilt, and now the engine temps seem to go through the roof whenever boost (ie the turbo starts to work) builds.
I'll admit that we are missing one standard heat shield which (if you know GT4's) goes over the manifold and half covers the turbo, but can that make a difference?
The dump pipe is wrapped in heatwrap.
My thinking is I'll have to increase the shielding and doing a search showed people using the ACL XR6T stuff (which I'll have to try and find). Obviously, sandwiched steel with an air gap would also work well.
Any other tips?
Matt

make a simple heat sheild.you can just use 1mm alloy with an air gap{the air gap is the trick} both sides or use two peices of alloy and put insulation mat between it and pop rivet and bend to shape you want.

with my gt4 (185) the standard heat shield does make quite a bit of difference. With it on everything is sweet, after i switch the engine off with the heat shield off I can hear coolant boiling in the top tank of the radiator and much more steam seems to escape from the relief hose.
I would chase one up and put it on, in addition you might want to source or make a heat shield for the radiator, if youll notice near the turbo on the radiator there are 2 threads for bolting this shield on, it helps a little aswell...
In addition, maybe you should wrap the dump pipe, that could help a lot....
