Why would you want a 3D ignition curve?
Just base it purely on revs, much simpler.

isnt the whole idea around programmable ignition to utilise a 3d map?
I know a curve based on revs would be much simpler, but different loads at identical rpm's would benefit from different timing settings.
If I went custom ignition I would want a 3d map, otherwise its basically like an electric version of a vacuum advance unit

I'm 99% sure my Microtech doesnt do 3D ignition maps.
It would be a head fuck to setup.
There are maps for advancing/retarding due to vacuum/boost, coolant temp, intake temp etc etc, but its not a 3D map in the same way the fuel map is.

the megasquirt has a 3d map for ignition timing. You need this so that you can run more advance under light loads, this increases fuel economy i think. eg at 3000rpm i run about 35 degrees under WOT, but coasting it runs over 40 degrees.
boost retard can be just done in the boost section (MAP > 100kpa) of the igition map. don't need an extra section.
air temp, and coolant temp corrections are separete.
Megasquirt'n'Spark-Extra or Megaquirt-II is what you need if you want ignition control.

You can even do COP with MSnS-E with the right sensors. cheap way, but don't expect it to be a walk in the park though.
if you want ignition only control look at MejaJoltLite Junior or something.

1 vote for MegaJoltLite Junior - cool ill look into it!!
Yes I definatly want 3D mapping....its not the 1980s you know!! otherwise light load running will be shit...
