hey guys
wats a quick way of making a sx corolla having tighter steering?
can this be done?

Take the belt off the power steering pump, worked for me though it removed itself in my case.

I seem to remeber there's some kinda adjustment on the rack ...
Where you'd have to use an SST ? ...

Tighter?
What the hell do you mean:
- More steering wheel effort
- More steering lock
- Fewer turns lock to lock
- Less understeer
???

nah, just take the pump out entirely, drain the fluid, then remove the steering rack itself...
no looseness at all then

i mean tighter as in, not moving the steering wheel as much to get the same turn, more responsive.
similar to a 1990 sw20 mr2.
is there any other suggestions cause i heard if u but a non powersteering rack on it, it will be better. but that didnt sound right to me.

Short of changing the rack all you can do is:
1. Get a smaller steering wheel
2. Change all your steering / control arm bushes for urethane items.
1 will make your steering feel tighter even though it hasn't really changed.
2 will remove most of the free play in your steering.

Get a different rack. See if there is an aftermarket one like a Quaife (?) one that is suitable...sorry I don't know more, i've never really looked into it.

Find an aftermarket rack, and get some more castor into it - these things run about 1 degree castor standard, nowhere near enough!

someone on here rebuilt an AE86/KE70 rack with quaife bits and all new seals, ends, etc for around $1000 iirc
