supra 5 stud wheels Sun, 12 January 2003 05:29 Go to next message
gday i am using ma70 discs and calipers in my 1uzfe ta22

my question is........is all toyota 5 stud wheels the same stud pattern ??

because if not this will limit my choice in diffs and i will most likely opt for a cut down ford 9inch as they have the same pattern i know that for sure

I'm pretty sure all the 5-stud Toyotas are 5 x 114.3 which as you said is the same as Ford.

PCD is the same (5x114.3) but centre holes are different. toyota is 67mm (i think) ford is bigger. need to machine out toyota wheels to fint onto a ford axle.

So what happens if you want to put Ford wheels on a Toyota axle?

You need to make a washer to take up the gap, that way all the load is taken by the axle rather than the wheel studs. Make it out of some aluminium to keep unsprung mass down.

'collar' is probably a less decieving term than 'washer'.

basically the collar just works to step your centre mounting shoulder out from 67mm (toyota) to XXmm (ford)

Wait, I forgot ones, some of the cars are 5 x 100 as well, not as many as the 5 x 114.3, but some.

AFAIK all RWD 5-stud Toyotas are 5x114.3 (or 5x4.5" if you prefer). The FWD ones are 5x100mm.

thanks for the input guys !

i have bought a ford 9 inch now so there is no going back, the plan is to machine the thread down to the same thickness as the toyota stud and retap the thread which is pretty easy, the hard part is going to be all the cutting and welding i have to do to make this fit !!

cheers
