Hi, Ihave an old 84 model z10 Soarer GT which currently has a 1g-geu(2 litre straight 6, auto transmission).. I was thinking of dropping a 7m-gte in the car and leaving it automatic.. I am looking at purchasing a Soarer front cut(auto with 7m-gte) but was wondering how much it would cost/some good sites to look at with front cuts. I am in brisbane.
theres a few questions I would hope to have answered
1.how much for the front cut
2.will it fit straight in
3.will I have to use the auto transmission from the half cut
4.how much to have it installed by someone else(a workshop)
5.1/4 mile time(guess)(the car weighs 1200kg atm)
Thanks heaps for your time!.

I have a MZ11 Soarer, which is a 1981 model.. and ive been informed that these are 1300kg's.. From another place, there was a list saying it could be from 1160-1300kg's as well. My one is the extra edition or something the rather..
I have a 5MGEU in mine at the moment, and am getting a 1G-GTE for it 2moro (hopefully it doesnt go by lunch time, but ive organised a sighting of it ) It might be cheaper to just turbo your engine. A good source of information can be found at www.celicasupra.com Mainly for 7MGTE's though. A few have done the 1JZ-GTE conversion, and i would do that, but its just that i am getting the 1G-GTE and the box to suit, and big intercooler.. already on its way, so its a bit hard for me to just stop, and change my mind, especially when all the Supra stuff is so expensive. Ive just finished stuffing about with a R31, and that provided alot of headache as is.
A 1JZ 1/2 cut should set you back around $2000, i think with no gearbox.. but im sure you could probably search about and find something cheaper. You will have to modify everything for the 1JZ to fit..
With the 7MGEU going into your car, this might be a good trade for the both of us actually. I am in search of either a bellhousing for the 1G motor, or a new gearbox.. and for a 7MGEU conversion, you would need a M series bellhousing on your box. Want to swap? I am in Perth by the way.
You are looking at about $1500 for a 7MGTE 1/2 cut, and for a 1/2 mile time, with small mods, you should get into the 13's Especially with 1200kg's of Gryphon Power!

Get a half cut of a GA70 Supra with a 1GGTE in it, as this will bolt in, if your Soarer is a GZ11. 1Gs are a lot lighter than 7Ms as well, so your handling wont be effected.
Just an easier swap, really.
On a side note, I saw a MZ1# Soarer with a 2M-TE or M-TE - (can't remember), but a two litre turbo six either way. A late 60s Crown engine with a snail hanging off it!

Im sure someone will correct me if Im wrong, but i think if u do a 1g-gte swaqp into a GZ series soarer you wont need engineering/blue plate as it was available from the factory with that motor.
Ive been in both the 7m-gte and 1g-gte equipped soarers and would have to say the lighter 1g feels like more bang for your buck
If you still need more convincing, do a google search on "7m head gasket"
